Prinoth is listed here as a manufacturer: the Baby Junior “P” is not a Formula 875 car but a Formula Baby single-seater – the entry-level class with a two-cylinder engine, in this case a Steyr-Puch.
In July 1963 Ernesto Prinoth (1923 – 1981), owner of the Officina Prinoth, presented his latest creation, the Baby Junior P. As the general importer of Steyr Puch engines and gearboxes in Italy he had good connections to the Steyr works.
The car had the engine and the gearbox of the Steyr Puch 650TR fitted and was intended for the entry-level Formula Baby class. This car was built 7 times and won a great many races with well-known drivers such as Tonino Ascari (I), Herbert Demetz (I), Erwin Gassler (A). Ernesto himself never raced the Baby.
Prinoth started with the Steyr-Puch 500; the more powerful 650 came only later. For the first version a report from the 1963 Vienna Grand Prix gives 35 hp from 500 cc, 280 kilograms dry and 175 km/h.

Of the seven Baby Junior “P” built, one is documented down to the details. The number 0004 is stamped into the frame tube — one of the few cases where the chassis number can be proved on the car itself.
