Callegari

Two cars were built under this name. Number 01 was destroyed; number 02 survives.

They were built by Carmelo Callegari — for Domenico Maiorano. Callegari had also worked for Walter Brun, the Swiss Formula 1 team.

It is built very narrow and has the engine in the middle. Its gear linkage keeps the usual shift pattern — unlike the Santandrea, where the gears are mirrored.

The car was so light that ballast was needed to reach the class minimum weight — 375 kilograms with the driver.

The paintwork is still the original. The car is complete with its papers, including the certificate for the Pirelli tank — the same safety tank that sits in LAB #014.

In the first photograph stand the two men in question: on the left Carmelo Callegari, the builder, on the right Domenico Maiorano, for whom he built the car. The other two show the chassis and the cockpit.
