Mario Benusiglio

1950–2014

Born on 27 August 1950, died on 4 February 2014. Italian.

In the Formula 875

Benusiglio was among the early drivers of the beginners’ class at Monza.

He raced a LAB. Chassis 10 was his; he drove it in 1970 and 1971. Some ten cars of that make were built, at Melegnano near Milan.

The result lists have him at the tenth and last round of the 1972 season at Monza, on 14 September: ninth in the second heat in 17’34″5, eleventh in the final in 28’29″6 – both times on the Lab.

On the same day the list carries his brother Renato Benusiglio, tenth in the third heat on a Lab-Crm.

What came after

He moved to sports cars and GTs. His best international result came in 1982 at the Monza 1000 kilometres, a round of the world sports car championship: third overall on an Osella PA7, together with Gabriele Ciuti and Giuseppe Piazzi.

Into the 2000s he still appeared now and then in the Italian GT championship, among other cars on a Ferrari 348.
