Sofia

Giuseppe, Vincenzo and Angelo Sofia began in 1970 with small body and mechanical jobs on the little Fiats.

They built four racing cars — “nel nostro passato sportivo, abbiamo costruito quattro auto da corsa, di cui una ancora in nostro possesso”. One of them is still theirs today.

What set their car apart was a forward driving position, offset to the right. The reason is simple: the Pista Junior ran clockwise.

Later they turned entirely to restoring the Fiat 500 — to date 530 cars, each numbered and documented with its own technical report and photographs. Their cars are in the United States, Japan, Germany, England, France and Australia.

Our table of makes lists Sofia for 1972–1973, with the note that Sofia drove himself. Which of the three brothers was at the wheel is nowhere recorded.
