Albarella
Savio borrowed the name from a private island in the lagoon south of Venice. Following the success of the Jungla, the coachbuilder put the Albarella into production in 1967. It is a beach car in the spirit of the Ghia Jolly: roof, doors and much of the sides are gone, wicker seats take their place. The basis was the Fiat 500 F with its air-cooled twin of 499 cc and 18 hp.
Series production never started: the Albarella stayed in the price list for years, but a car was built only when somebody ordered one – one at a time and by hand, not on a line. About twenty are reckoned to have been made.
It differs from the Spider Elegance, the other open Savio on the Fiat 500, at the front: there a smooth, rounded nose with two large round headlamps and a cord instead of doors.
