In 1955 the companies Bianchi, Fiat and Pirelli founded Autobianchi. Sales of the Bianchina began in 1958 and Bianchi had to hand its shares over to the two partner companies. From 1967 Autobianchi was a wholly owned Fiat subsidiary.
In 1957 Bianchi also tried its hand at a small Katamar for the Bianchina.
Autobianchi built various models on the Fiat 500 base, mostly somewhat more upmarket and therefore also more expensive.
