Savio: the company, four cars and three registers

21.08.2026

The Savio section has grown. The main page now has a part on the history of the company, and four cars have pages of their own: the two-seat Spider, the four-seat beach car Spider Elegance, the Jungla and the Albarella 500.

For the company, two official register notices of the Turin chamber of commerce, from 1954 and from 1959, have been read. They give the register number and both company addresses, and record that on the death of Giuseppe Savio the firm passed to his two daughters. An original brochure from the collection confirms the second address character for character – two sources that know nothing of each other.

With the Spider Elegance the collection’s own material contradicts the usual account: an auction house described its car as the only example ever built. The collection holds three different cars, two of them demonstrably on different chassis generations – one on the Fiat 500 D, one on the 500 F. So the Elegance was not a one-off.

Three registers are new as well, with 39 cars between them: 28 for the Jungla, seven for the Albarella 500 and four for the Spider Elegance. The Spider has none – only one car was built.
