Caprera: the company, the Ragno and the saloon

19.08.2026

The Caprera page has gained a section on the company. Caprera was a small Turin workshop, named after the Via Caprera: it assembled and painted bodyshells for the big names, built its first cars of its own in 1959, the «Capri» spider and the «Amalfi» saloon, and later kept going with commercial vehicles and upmarket trim for production cars.

The two cars shown are described as well: the low «Ragno» coupé with pop-up headlights, on the chassis of a Fiat 500 F, and the saloon – not a special body but a 500 L refined by Caprera, recognisable by the crest on the tailgate and in the speedometer. The show year has been corrected: the coupé was built for the 1969 Turin Motor Show, not 1968.
